Keith Myers graduated from the University of Florida in 1999 with his Bachelor of Health Science degree in Physical Therapy. Since that time he has had the opportunity to practice in a variety of clinical settings. He started his career working with patients in the sub-acute rehabilitation setting where he gained experience working primarily with patients in the geriatric population including those in the late stages of Parkinson’s disease. Keith was recruited to work at Shands Teaching Hospital in 2001 where he provided rehabilitation services to patients in the acute care setting. He worked primarily with the Gastric surgery, Neurosurgery, and Neurology teams. In 2002, Keith transferred to the outpatient rehabilitation setting, with Shands Healthcare, where he worked with patients who had various orthopedic and cardiopulmonary dysfunctions. In June of 2003 he joined the University of Florida Movement Disorder Center. He has since focused his practice on improving the balance and mobility of patients with various movement disorders. Keith graduated from the University of Florida, College of Business Administration with his MBA in May of 2004 and is currently the Clinical Coordinator for Rehabilitation Services at Shands Medical Plaza. He is now working to advance his career through clinical, administrative and research interests in rehabilitation services.
Keith is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Florida Physical Therapy Association. He has provided formal continuing education for Shands Healthcare and the University of Florida Physical Therapy Program, as well as inservices to various community groups regarding Parkinson’s disease, balance and fall prevention, and safe exercise.
