As a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Movement Disorders Program, it is Michele's responsibility to ensure that all aspects of the studies that she coordinates develop and progress as designed by the primary investigator and the sponsor(s).
Prior to the commencement of a study, Michele prepares the Informed Consent and supporting documents that will be submitted for review to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Upon approval by the IRB, she actively screens and enrolls potential subjects to participate in the studies. Once a person has consented to participate, conducting the research with strict adherence to the Research Protocol becomes her primary objective. Tasks involved in conducting a study may include interviewing, evaluating symptoms, administering questionnaires and exams, and maintaining records.
Michele is currently coordinating a Michael J. Fox Foundation sponsored study as well as two other pending early Parkinson's Disease trials.
